Main Session Speakers

Our keynote session is designed to make it an affordable date night for both of you! We provide childcare for $1.00 per child, plus the option to bring your children to eat very inexpensively, and the opportunity to sit under Mike Matthews teaching for some encouragement as parents that homeschool in today’s culture. To read more about our keynote speaker, please click here.

In addition to our keynote session on Friday at 7:15pm, Mike will also be talking on Friday morning and Saturday morning in presenting a two-part series looking at worldview concepts and learning how the most basic fundamentals of life is best accomplished.

This will be the final part to Mike Matthews’ two-part series looking at worldview concepts and learning how the most basic fundamentals of life is best accomplished. This part 2 session will take place on Saturday. Part 1 is scheduled for Friday morning.

When we begin homeschooling, we do so with big dreams and high hopes. Our hopes and dreams are not misplaced, but our idea of how we’ll reach them often is. Just when we get our bearings, our kids hit a growth spurt and need something different from us. In this talk, Mystie shares personal anecdotes both about homeschooling as well as being homeschooled herself, explaining what our young students need, how to teach elementary kids, that everything is not broken when they turn twelve, and how graduation is not really the end – for anyone. You’ll laugh, cry, and feel encouraged while having your sights straightened onto Christ through it all while listening to this talk.

If you have more than one at home while you’re schooling, Jessica’s insight and experience can give you tips and tricks to consider bringing into your own home as you juggle the responsibilities of wife, mom, and homeschool teacher. Having a first grader, a toddler (or two), and/or a baby just moved you into having to juggle so many responsibilities and wear different hats. Come and hear how to do this with joy, while giving yourself (and your family) grace.

I will set out to clarify what dyslexia is and how it impacts learning. We will talk through some signs and symptoms. I’ll also offer some resources and directions for how to address these issues.

Our future generation of civic leaders need current leaders to protect our freedoms from being stolen by forces working against their best interests. Shane has a 31-year career of service with 9 years as a commissioned officer and pilot in the US army with 14 1/2 years in the Montana Army National Guard; Nine years as a firefighting pilot in the USDA Forest Service; and 11 years as a law enforcement pilot in the US Customs and Border Protection. In those 31 years Shane has seen the government operate and continuously grow. This must change if we wish to preserve our freedoms!

Whether you’re a brand new homeschool mom finishing her first year, or well-seasoned homeschool mom with years of experience under your belt, this is an invitation to look back on last year with grace and wisdom. The theory behind Flourish is simple: in order to look forward and plan the coming school year effectively, we first need to look back effectively. So many year-end reviews are focused on whether we checked all our boxes, but Flourish is different. In this workshop, Brandy Vencel will lead you through a homeschool annual review process she designed to take a philosophical view and really assess whether what happened in the school year aligned with your philosophy and goals. Handout worksheets will be available for your own personal use during this session.  (This video workshop sells on Afterthoughts for $23.99 and is a 3-part workshop. We are showing parts 1 & 2.  We have purchased the rights for attendees to view this workshop at our conference this year for free as part of your registration!)

Session 1 focuses on self-assessment and individual student assessments.

Session 2 focuses on a broad view and teaches framework within which you can assess your homeschool overall.

For this session, we will have 5-6 seasoned moms upfront and ready to answer your questions! We would love to hear your questions ahead of time and welcome you to complete this quick survey before the conference begins. Questions will be answered on-the-spot but if you already have a question you’d like answered, send them before May 31 and we’ll offer them to the moms on the panel. All moms have been homeschooling for at least 10+ years, some even 20+. Moms of large families and smaller families will be on the panel. And all using different curricula, differing philosophies and homeschooling styles.

If you would like to ask a question for the Q&A Mom Panel, please click here.

Bonus Informational Mini-Sessions

Rhonda will present a short session during lunch on Friday to bring every home educating family up-to-date with being in compliance while homeschooling in our wonderful state of Montana.

Whether your wee student hasn’t begun formal education yet or is at the other end of their homeschool journey and gaining speed on graduating, we invite all parents to hear a representative share about Montana Wilderness School of the Bible.

TeenPact seeks to inspire youth in their relationship with Christ and train them to understand the political process, value their liberty, defend the Christian faith, and engage the culture around them. TeenPact offers classes in Helena MT for students ages 8-19 to discover how to embrace their call as the next generation of leaders.

Katie Simpson will be representing MSU Billings City College Rural Eastern Montana Nursing Expansion Grant & Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act and will be attending to make sure that homeschooling graduates have access to knowledge of any funding for any trainings after they graduate.

Youth Track: Friday, 1:30-5:30pm

CALLING ALL YOUTH!  Beginning with Session #3 at 1:30pm on Friday, Montana Wilderness School of the Bible will be giving a presentation to all parents and youth followed by Montana State University, Billings, and finally from TeenPact. Then Pastor Philip Breaux will be providing an afternoon of games, teaching, and discussion. If you’ve met Pastor Philip before, you’ll know that he’s one person that creates fun no matter who’s around!

If you have middle schoolers – high schoolers, who were 6th – 12th grade in the 2023-2024 school year, then join us for games, teaching, and discussion as we ask one of life’s most important and annoying questions, “Why?” Why did God make us to be in community with Him and others? How am I supposed to develop a personal relationship with someone I can’t see? Bring your Bibles and your noggins, this is a time you won’t want to miss.
P.S. Did we mention there will be games and silliness?

Your students are invited to join you for dinner on Friday night. Just include their meal on your registration form!
